Day 16. Let's see a global trend of technological innovation.
More people know the importance of technology, such as AI, Data Science, and Digital Transformation.
AI is "Artificial Intelligence." AI can understand, calculate and learn like human intelligence. Simply speaking, AI is a collection of rules made by programming. Programming designs processes of what AI does and how AI does. A rule written by a programming language such as python is called code.
We can use AI in Data Science. The goal of Data Science includes analysis, explanation, decision-making, search, etc. Modeling is one of Data Science skills and provides an understanding of business, customers, environment, etc. In Japan, more and more schools/universities offer Data Science programs.
The combination of AI and Data Science, we can automate some of the processes in business situations. AI has become smarter recently thanks to technological research, development and investment. These enable us to work more efficiently.
GAFA is four companies, Google, Apple, Facebook, and Amazon. Each of GAFA is a giant in digital information.
Google's core search engine is used across the world. Do you use Google's search, Gmail, and Google Map? Google focuses on online advertising, cloud computing, software, and hardware.
Apple's iPhone changed the concept of the phone. Apple has a high level of brand loyalty and is ranked as the world's most valuable brand. As many as 1.65 billion Apple products are in use worldwide.
Facebook is an online social media and social networking service. Users can post text, photos, and multimedia with their "friend." Users should take care of their privacy settings.
Amazon focuses on online shopping and digital video and music. It started as an online marketplace for books but now sells electronics, video games, apparel, food, toys, and jewelry.
A smartphone is a mobile telephone. We use it to listen to music, watch a video, take a picture and movie, enjoy a game, send messages, create an account in social network service and talk with our family, friends, customers, etc.
The major manufacturers are Apple, Samsung, Sony, etc. These companies began to release smartphones with a touchscreen in the 2000s. After iPhone was released in the late 2000s, a large screen of smartphones became large. With innovations such as lithium-ion batteries and digital networks, a smartphone got more and more users.

AI, データサイエンス、デジタルやDXなどの用語を英語で表すとどのようになるでしょうか？
AIは人工知能です。AIは認識、計算や学習を人間の頭脳と同じようにできます。わかりやすく言えば、プログラミングで書かれたルールどおりの処理を行います。このルールをコードと呼びます。
AIはデータサイエンスに活用されてます。分析、説明やリサーチなどです。モデリングはデータサイエンスの得意分野でビジネス、環境保護などで用いられています。データサイエンスが学べる大学も増えています。
AIとデータサイエンスを使うとかなり自動化できます。AIはR＆Dや投資の的になっていて、日々進歩しており、うまく使えば能率が上がります。
GAFA、グーグル、アップル、フェイスブックにアマゾンです。
グーグルは検索、Gメール、Googleマップ、オンライン広告など先端企業です。
アップルと言えばiPhoneです。ブランド力が半端なく、10億人以上のアップルユーザーが世界にはいます。
フェイスブックはSNSの先駆けです。友達、フォロワー、プライバシーなどフェイスブックを通じて定義を知った方もいるのではないでしょうか？
アマゾンはEコマース、プライムビデオなど日常生活に深く関わっています。最初は本屋さんでしたが、今ではなんでも屋です。
スマホは電話だけでなく、音楽を聞いたり、映画や動画をみたり、ゲームをしたり、数え切れないくらい多機能になっています。
アップルiPhoneやサムスンのGalaxyが有名です。タッチパネルの登場は2000年代で、iPhoneの登場でさらに普及し大画面化しました。電池も延びて、通信も高速化しています。
Day 17 Doing and Done ⭐︎
Day 17. Let’s study more grammar.
1. “be doing”.
“be doing” means “ someone or something does something NOW.”
Students are studying Japanese History in the classroom.
Children are playing Play Station together.
“be doing” is used for past and future as well.
We were watching Star Wars on television when one of my friends came to our house yesterday.
2.“be done” .
“be done” means passive sentence.
Will you pair your car by yourself? Or, will you ask car repairer to fix the problem?
The newspaper is delivered to my home every day at 5 am.
My family was invited to the party.
I am going to have my hair cut this weekend.
Passive sentences show emotions and feelings.
My team got happy when the team was selected for the soccer tournament.
I was pleased to hear that I passed the English test.
These are other examples using a passive format.
My New Balance shoes are made in China.
Carbon dioxide is said to be responsible for global warming.
Two people were injured in the car accident.
3. ”have done”
”have done” has mainly three meanings as follows:
3-1. Completed something already.
3-2. Experience of doing.
3-3. Continue to do.
3-1. Completed something already.
The train has gone, meaning that the train departed already.
He has spent all his money on buying a car, meaning he has no money.
3-2. Experience of doing.
I have been to Paris four times.
Have you ever been to Canada? No, I have never been there.
3-3. Continue to do.
My brother has lived in India for about half a year.
I have worked for ABC Consulting Group for five months.
I have liked to play the piano since my childhood
How long have you been waiting in your house for your father?
17日目 文法の続き ⭐︎
17日目は文法、進行形、受け身と現在完了を扱います。
１進行形
現在進行形はその名のとおり、「〜している」、過去形ならば「〜していた」です。
実際に「遊んでいる」「勉強している」といったような訳になります。
過去進行形の場合にはyesterday, last weekなどいつなのか示すことが多いです。
２ 受け身
英語の受け身は典型的な例がいくつかあります。
あたりまえながら「〜してもらう」は受け身です。髪を切ってもらう、車を修理してもらう、という具合です。
感情は典型的な受け身です。喜怒哀楽や幸せは受け身です。
製品が「どこの国製」というmade in Japanも受け身の一種です。
３ 現在完了
現在完了は１完了、２経験、３継続の３つの使い方があります。
１完了は「〜は終わっている、終わった」というように過去というよりも、実行されたことを強調する書き方です。
２経験は「〜したことがある」「何回したことがある」という具合です。
「〜に旅行したことがある」もこの使い方です。
３継続は「〜を何ヶ月、何年している」という意味です。住んでいる、働いているなど期間を表します。

Day 20 SDGs ⭐︎
We believe everyone should have equal access to education. Education is one of 17 SDGs. Our content is easy to enjoy studying English. There are many topics related to SDGs, such as environment, human rights, and education.
High-quality education is valuable to all people. Especially, English education should be open to everyone. English skills will help you in many fields in the future. With English skills, you can travel overseas or work for a multinational company. What do you want to do with English?
According to the United Nations website, countries and the Unite nations concluded the SDGs based on years of work. The Member countries discussed SDGs for a long time.
Pollution causes damages to humans and may cause diseases such as heart disease. Many people die of pollution every year. Pollution can have harmful effects on our nature, animals, and agriculture too.
Gender equality is equal access to education, work, politics between men and women. Human rights must be equally respected for everyone. In some countries, many girls receive less support than boys for studying. Gender equality makes our society safer and easier to live in.
Climate change is one of the environmental problems. Carbon dioxide (CO2), as a greenhouse gas, causes warming. Human activities increased carbon dioxide in the air. Scientists say we must save energy for the Earth by using less gasoline, oil, and electricity.
Water shortage is a global issue. Some countries do not have enough water because of a small amount of rainfall or water pollution. More than half of people in the world experience water shortage. Moreover, 500 million people always face water shortages all year round. In Japan, the Japanese government constructed dams.

20日目はSDGsについてです。
17の目標がありますが、LRIGHT ENGLISHは環境、人権や教育などSDGs関連の記事を掲載しております。
教育の恩恵はすべての人に届くべきだろうと思います。特に英語は入試にもお仕事にも直結します。
国連ウェブサイトによると、加盟国が何年にもわたって議論してSDGsが決まったそうです。
公害は人にも害で病気を引き起こしかねません。毎年多くの人が公害による病気で亡くなっています。公害は動物や農産物にも悪影響があります。
男女平等は教育、お仕事、政治など多くの分野における同権を指します。人権は全ての人に保障されるべきものですが、一部の国では少女が学校に通えなかったりする状況があります。
気候変動は環境問題の一つで、二酸化炭素が温暖化を引き起こしていることに関係しています。人間の活動が二酸化炭素を放出しており、科学者からは石油消費など省エネが大事との声が届いています。
水も世界の課題です。雨が少なすぎたり、水が汚染されたりで水不足が起こります。世界の人口のうち半分は水不足を経験しており、5億人は常に水不足です。日本では政府がダムで治水を実施しています。
Day 21 Tropical Resort ⭐︎
Every year, Japanese travel to both domestic and international tropical resorts.
Only Okinawa has a sub-tropical climate in Japan, located at the southwestern tip of Japan. Okinawa is warm throughout the year, and we can enjoy marine sports from spring to autumn. The beautiful seas are the treasure of Okinawa, being a perfect place for corals and fish. Snorkeling and diving, and kayak are the best to experience the ocean.
The Maldives is an island country in the Indian Ocean with some islands used for travel resorts. The Maldives’ beautiful sea is home to about five percent of coral reefs and whale sharks. However, environmental changes damage its ecosystems. Several conservation efforts are made to protect natural assets.
Singapore in Southeast Asia is a popular travel destination. This multicultural country offers many hotels and restaurants for travelers. With an efficient subway system and taxis, travelers can quickly get around many spots, including Gardens by the Bay. Singapore designates four official languages: English, Malay, Chinese, and Tamil as a diverse community.
Hawaii is famous, especially among honeymoon couples. About 2,000 miles from the U.S. mainland, Hawaii attracts tourists, surfers, and scientists with a tropical climate, beaches, ocean, and clear skies in the Pacific Ocean. Though travel costs are high, Honolulu ranks high in Japanese travelers.

毎年、国内海外問わず南国へ旅行に行く方は多いです。
日本最南端の沖縄は日本で唯一の亜熱帯で、年中温暖でマリンスポーツも春から秋まで楽しめ、沖縄の海はサンゴ礁やお魚の宝庫です。シュノーケルリング、ダイビングやカヤックがおすすめです。
モルディブはインド洋の島国で、一部の島がリゾートになっています。モルディブは世界の5％のサンゴ、ジンベイザメが生息しています。環境破壊から保護するために施作が導入されています。
シンガポールは東南アジアの多民族国家で、様々な国の料理が楽しめます。地下鉄やタクシーが便利でガーデンズバイザベイなどアクセスできます。英語、マレー語、中国語、タミルが公用語です。
ハワイは新婚旅行の人気旅行先でアメリカ本土からも2000マイル離れており、独自の気候、海、ビーチや星空は旅行者だけでなく、科学者も惹きつけています。コストが高いですが、非常に人気です。
Day 22 English Tests ⭐︎
TOEIC evaluates the ability to communicate in business situations. Many Japanese take the test every year to show their English ability in a resume. TOEIC is a good step in studying English because most of the questions are moderate.
EIKEN has two stages. The first stage is a paper-and-pencil test which includes reading, listening, and writing. The second stage is speaking test through a face-to-face interview. You can choose a test location from approximately 18,000 junior high schools, high schools, and colleges. Also, there are a lot of international test locations outside Japan.
TEAP is Test of English for Academic Purposes. TEAP is designed to evaluate English skills to study at a university program. TEAP started in July 2014.
TOEFL is a standardized test for non-native speakers wishing to learn in English-speaking universities. TOEFL is designed to assess the ability of both oral and written English. The Educational Testing Service operates TOEFL and issues official score reports. TOEFL score is valid for two years after you take the test.
IELTS can be used for 10,000 schools and universities. There are three types: IELTS Academic test, IELTS General Training test, and Life Skills test. The test type you need to challenge depends on your goal.

TOEICはお仕事の英語力を測りますので、毎年多くの方がスコアを履歴書に書くために受験します。問題のレベルは標準的なものが多く上級を目指すのにちょうど良いです。
英検は一次試験がペーパーテストで読み書きとリスニング。二次試験が面接形式のスピーキングです。18,000もの学校がテスト会場になっていて、海外でも受験できます。
TEAPはアカデミック、大学レベルの英語力があるか測定します。TEAPは新しいテストで2014年からスタートしています。
TOEFLは英語圏の大学へ留学するための英語力を測るテストです。ETSという団体が運営していてスコアは2年間有効です。
IELTSは10,000もの大学へ出願できます。アカデミック、一般、日常番の3種類があり、どのテストが必要か要注意です。
