Listening

Listening is the beginning of English⭐︎⭐︎

LRIGHT ENGLISH suggests that you begin learning English by listening to basic phrases. Starting from basic level is the most efficient and can keep your motivation.

 For example,

・I get up and have breakfast in the morning.

・We studied English in elementary school yesterday.

・My family plan to travel into New York.

LRIGHT ENGLISH recommends simple ones such as above. Please kindly select phrases that fit with your vocabulary.

Let's learn English in this order:

1. Listening → 2. Speaking → 3. Reading → 4. Writing.

You may get bored while reading simple phrases, but it is not good to shift into difficult phrases.

In listening practice, let's check the following points:

・pronunciation

・delivery

・syllable

We advise you to imagine the meaning of words when you hear them in narration scripts. You should understand English words as English, NOT as Japanese.  Translating English words into Japanese words does not support learning English.

You do not have to be perfect in learning English! Don't worry. Go next once you practice simple phrases.

After finishing writing practice, the next step is to learn a sentence 1. listening through 4. writing. A sentence is longer than a phrase.

言葉は「聞く」からスタート⭐︎⭐︎

まずは「簡単な、かつ短いフレーズを聞いてみる」からスタート。簡単で少し物足りないくらいレベルから始めるのが遠回りに見えて一番の近道とオススメしています。

例えば、

・I get up and have breakfast in the morning

・We study English in elementary school

[ I get up ] と聞き取り、さらに「I get upの動作」が頭に浮かぶイメージです。

「I get up → 起きる」と日本語訳をしないでください、英語は英語のまま理解することが英語力向上のコツです。

LRight Englishのモットー「完璧でなくてよい」の言葉通り、ある程度できた感触があれば次に進んで大丈夫です。3. リーディングでは物足りなさを感じると思いますが、レベルを上げないようちょっと我慢です。

4. ライティングまで終わったら、次は「簡単な、ちょっと長めの文を聞いてみる」に進んでください。繰り返しますが、「簡単で、前回より長い文」がオススメです。この文を前回と同じく1~4の順番に学習してみてください。

Phonics⭐︎

Sometimes we Japanese have no ideas how to pronounce words when we are reading English. This kind of problem makes us feel that we are not good at listening and speaking English.

Let’s learn phonics at first before you practice listening and speaking. Phonics is like basic rules of how to pronounce English words correctly. With phonics in your mind, you understand pronunciations when reading English, and your listening skill improves.

If you can imagine spelling when you hear a word, your listening skill is very good. For example, “park” can be divided into three parts, “p,” “ar,” “k.” Will you try to listen to each of the three sounds? Due to the difference between Japanese and English in terms of pronunciations, most Japanese are not used to single “k.”

Learning phonics is one of the essential steps for English listening. There are plenty of materials, including movies on YouTube. Let’s pick up your favorite one and study the connection between spellings and pronunciations.

Shadowing⭐︎

Shadowing is an effective and efficient language learning training. It trains your listening and speaking at the same time.

What you do is simple; you repeat audio just after you hear it. Shadowing is like acting like a “shadow” (hence the name “shadowing). You listen to the words first and then say them back out

Here’s a simple guide.

1.           Find audio. LRIGHT ENGLISH is a great option for audio. But you can use any audio: audiobooks, Netflix, YouTube videos, or even radio shows. We advise you to select an easy one.

2.           Listen to the audio first. Shadowing is most effective when you understand the content before you repeat it. So please give it a listen first, so you understand it. Check that you understand all the key vocabulary, pronunciation, and intonation. It is good to move your mouth without speaking.

3.           Speak as shadow the audio WITH a transcript. It is the easier version of shadowing as you read the transcript and helps you to see the words as you’re repeating them.

4.           Speak as Shadow WITHOUT a transcript. It is difficult, so you can skip if you are a beginner. Simply listening and then mimicking what you hear is a tough job.

Numbers⭐︎

Yesterday on June 18th, 2021, my friends and I had a casual party. I enjoyed a cup of coffee and a glass of beer. The total cost is 350 dollars, so each of us paid almost 90 dollars.

At the party, we talked about how to negotiate with the employer to raise our salary. Our annual income is around 5 million yen, equal to approximately 400,000 yen per month. Most of us receive a bonus every quarter too.

My goal is to make our income double in the next decade. I may try another job or add a part-time job in addition to a regular job. If I can earn one more salary from my second job by 50,000 yen every month, my yearly income will increase by 600,000 yen,

Also, as we have a part every half of a year, we set the next schedule on January 5th, 2022. There will be dozen of friends there.

To learn facts, you need examples, and you display mastery through recognition and recollection. To learn skills, you need practice, and you demonstrate knowledge through performance excellence. If you wish to assess the workshop properly, do not make a list of the new facts you have memorized. Instead, look at how well you perform in your ordinary daily tasks. Are you better at researching, coaching, managing, communicating, or closing a sale? Are you more effective in editing a document, designing a spreadsheet, sharing your ideas publicly, or breaking down problems into manageable parts? Are you more aware of how you do what you do? If so, then you have acquired and honed the skills that make effective problem solvers.

最初は認知度を上げるのが仕事で、メッセージ、情報やありとあらゆる手を使います。最初から認知度があれば、いかに購入につなげるか、から取り組むこともあります。

どんな企業でも新規顧客、既存顧客問わず適切なコミュニケーションでブランドを確立することが大事です。お客様、消費者に正しく理解してもらうのは、一つ一つのマーケティングアクションより複雑なフローです。
